Melt! 2006 round-up

Melt 2007 Yet again this year's Melt! festival was great fun. We really enjoyed the new camping site and swimming in the lake was awesome. Always sunny but not too hot, what more would you want? And of course, the line up: more than 80 live-acts and DJs were just a blast.

More than 13,000 music enthusiasts, that's 20% more than the year before celebrated a peaceful festival. A very impressive figure, I think, taking into account that the Loveparade in Berlin was just around the corner.

We are looking forward to Melt! 2007 which will also be the 10th anniversary. See you July 13th 2007 and meanwhile enjoy the photos.

PicTicketIf you are one of those type of people who can't make a decision just now, well, there is still a chance to get your Melt! tickets on your way. The Melt! folks have teamed up with picticket.com and kartenhaus.de allowing for online purchase whereby you receive your ticket on your mobile phone. The picture message you will be sent is some sort of barcode which is scanned in at the entrance and exchanged for a wristband. You can pay by credit card or direct debit.

Camping update

This year, the Gremminer Lake will be open for swimming for the first time and there will be an additional camping site there. Camping opens Thursday around noon but bathrooms will not be accessible before Friday morning. Campers who can't live without their vehicles (or sleep in one) need to use the camping site along the main road, though. Doors open 4pm on Fridays, the first bands performing an hour later.

You, me and mySpace

Melt on mySpaceWhen it comes to online presentation of artists and bands, there is one thing you can almost rely on. Type in "myspace.com/bandname" and chances are you make your match. MySpace has evolved to be the most important promotion platform for many artists. Mediengruppe Telekommander is one of many examples and the guys highly endorse MySpace in a recent interview. Of course, Melt! Festival has a mySpace page as well.
